What an amazing place to be.....

General — Posted by Alanne @ 11/20/06,11:54

Are you in the place you are suppose to be? You know the place. If you are not whoa you're missing out!

I can't even fully describe it. It's real it's raw. The feeling that Laurie put it into the words "I get it!" Do you get it? You truly need to get it. What is it? Where is that place? It's nowhere and it' everywhere. Get it? The book Experiencing God says find where God is working and join Him. That's it! That's where.

Your thoughts your everything needs to be taken into captivity.

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (New International Version)

4

"Where my thoughts are that's where my reality will be. Create your own reality. God wants us to let him create our reality."

It's a good day.

Blessings,

Alanne.

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

Something to think on...

So I was emailed the following email. Wow. Interesting. How come there is more death, more disease more sickness now? It's hard not to think that as the world gets worse so does the punishment. Sure there was sin back then too. Sure they had their own issues too. Maybe that's me not able to get past the "Hide and Blame" nature of human beings......

A good read anyway.

Blessings, Alanne.

THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride Down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, ! no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms ... WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made
from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them! Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that! The
idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. The idea of a parent sueing the school because we were bad or acted up. The parents actually sided with the school and or the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them . . . CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno: "With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

Thought of the morning...

On the way to take Kevin to work we were listening to our current favorite band "Need to Breathe" and one of the lines from a song said "If you don't know just what to think then put your thoughts away and keep em out of reach". I love it!

Think on Him today.

Bless you today as you focus on our Lord and Savior.

What's ringing in your head?

General — Posted by Alanne @ 11/06/06,21:34

Thanks Emily for our chat today! I'm inspired! Emily shared what is ringing over and over in her head and I realized that I had something ringing in my head too. It's what one of the Directors of BeautiControl shared at the last meeting.

"Anything can be said at a spa as long as you say it with a smile on your face."

Often I worry how what I need to say will come across. So stick a smile on your face and say it. Another way to look at this is care about the person you say things to. People can see through a fake smile. Sometimes a real smile is hard to put on though.

At the Leadership class they shared something that you probably have heard, no one cares how much you know till they know how much you care.

If you don't care enough and don't need to say something then don't! But if you do or are suppose to then I'd say you'd better do it (I'm smiling!).

My mom always said show me your friends and I'll tell you who you are. The people you associate with I don't mean help or are around at times, the intimate people the ones you desire to be around.

Surround yourself with great people. You are great.

Essay and Public Speaking

So I'm taking this leadership course. It's 4 weeks long and I have one week left. It's been really a great time. Valuable teaching and many things I can take and apply to my own life. Every week we've had homework. This week the homework is a bit different.

We've been asked to answer these two questions. Who are you really? and What do you want? Paragraph form and we need to present it next week. I'm freaking out! I love it though, my adrenaline is pumping and my mind is racing. It is a great feeling.

So I've written a couple notes so far. How do you describe yourself? Who am I? We'll see how it goes. Scary.

What's next? Edmonton Public School System here we come. ;)

Love,

Alanne.
