Time
It's always good to be thankful but I really feel like we ought to be more thankful when someone give us the gift of time.
Time is a precious gift and limited resource. I have often found myself thinking or saying (to my kids) "Don't waste my time!" (then I explain to them that when they don't clean up their toys I have to do it and it takes my time away from something else - they seem to get it then) How we spend our time is very important and while I could go off and say make sure you are spending time in the word and prayer, that's a given so make sure you are doing it!
When someone takes the time to be helpful, answer questions, or lend an ear, thank them. They have stopped what they were doing and spent time on you. Now good friends willingly do this it's a bit of extra spending when it's not a good friend.
I have found Edmonton a very helpful city and people are very willing to open a door or take a minute to give instructions/directions or explain how things work here. They may not feel they need to be thanked but I would encourage you to do it and make it a habit.
Thanks for taking the time to be encouraged and challenged.
Alanne.
