Ten Commandments and the Law

General — Posted by Alanne @ 04/07/07,14:14

Lately for many Christians the focus has not been on the Ten Commandment and the Law. We have moved to focusing on Christ. The problem is

that we forget that God gave us those laws and they were not just for the people in the "Bible Times".

Hebrews 6

1Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,[a] and of faith in God, 2instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3And God permitting, we will do so.

2 Timothy 2:24-26

24And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

In order to teach we must know the law and we must abide by the law.

Kevin went to see a series called "The way of the Master" I believe it's called. He shared with me how it teaches us to use the law to show people why Christ had to come to the earth to die for us.

I recently read the Ten Commandments and was extremely challenged. I thought I was obeying them all. Not fully.

I encourage all those who call Christ their savior to read them and know them that they may share with those who are "being saved".

1Corinthians 1:17-19

17For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

Christ the Wisdom and Power of God

18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."[a]

2Thessalonians 2:9-12

9The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

Know the law. Live the law. Be able to teach the law.

Blessings,

Alanne.
